So, your kitten meows all the time, right? Well, have you tried to find out the reason behind its incessant ‘meowing’?
Your kitten could be hungry or stressed out or having some medical condition, as a result of which, it is using its vocal chords more often. You have to stop your kitten from meowing because that’s not good for the kitten.
It is sure that the kitten is trying to convey something, but what is it? That’s what you need to find out.
Let us discuss the possible reasons why my kitten meows all the time:
Kitten is looking for some ‘attention’
Cats need attention and for that, they will make faces and meow until they get what they want. Maybe your kitten is bored and wants to do something interesting, that’s why it is meowing continuously.
So, just pay some attention towards the kitten so that it stops meowing. It is important for you to spend time with your kitten as it is also a part of your family. Take the kitten out for a walk, play some games with it and make sure that it doesn’t feel lonely.
Instead of getting irritated by the meowing, you must reward your kitten for its quiet behavior. Doing this will help keep the kitten calm.
Sickness
When your kitten meows, it is trying to communicate with you. Maybe, the kitten is not feeling well. Though cats don’t really show when they are sick, so when they are meowing, then it means that there is something wrong. You need to pay attention towards the kitten to find out what’s wrong with it.
Maybe your kitten is suffering from urinating issues, kidney disease, overactive thyroid or any other health issues. Just get your kitten checked by a veterinarian when you experience any strange behavior in it.
Hunger
Some kittens only meow when they are hungry, so just check if your kitten doesn’t fall into that category. You must specify a time for your kitten to eat or else, it is going to keep meowing until it gets the food.
You can’t feed it all day, so you have to let your kitten know that there are certain times when the food will be served to it. Meowing for a few minutes will not make you serve the food.
Stress
Sometimes, kittens meow when they are in stress. There could be multiple reasons to give them stress, i.e., changes in the home, a new pet or pets, new people in the home, etc. Meowing clearly shows the displeasure of the kitten regarding the changes that are made in its surroundings.
You will be able to see in the eyes of your kitten that it is not happy with certain things that have taken place in the house as of late. So, you have to make the kitten familiar with the changes or try to bring back things to their original position.
One important thing that you should always keep in mind is that don’t yell at your kitten when it is meowing because that will give rise to behavioral issues. You have to make your kitten understand that meowing all the time is not going to make things better.
Everything takes time and meowing will not expedite the process. Don’t scold your kitten because it is very small and doesn’t understand anything. It is just like a small baby who cries for some reason but parents aren’t able to make out what.
So, just be polite and understanding with your kitten. Treat your kitten as if it is your own child because only then, you will be able to communicate and understand the problems of your kitten in a better way.
